YouTube tutorial

New to YouTube? Don’t worry — we’ll walk you through it.

Your auction video is hosted by you, on your own YouTube channel — we simply include the link in your submission package. If you’ve never uploaded a video before, you’re exactly who this page is for: the steps below (and the short tutorial video) will get you from zero to a link you can send us in about fifteen minutes. It’s free, your phone is all the equipment you need — and this is the “assistance” we promise in our service: a helping hand, not homework.

Key takeaways

01

It’s free, and your phone is enough

A free Google account, a channel you create in minutes, and the phone already in your pocket — no other equipment, no cost, no experience needed.

02

“Unlisted” is all we need

Anyone with the link can watch; the video stays out of search and off a public channel page.

03

Send the link before your listing is built

We review your video once and send one round of feedback, so anything can be fixed before buyers see it.

Step by step

  1. Get a Google account — YouTube is owned by Google, so a free Google account is your login. If you already use Gmail, you already have one. If not, go to accounts.google.com and choose “Create account”.
  2. Create your channel — sign in at youtube.com, click your profile picture, then Settings → Add or manage channels → Create a channel. Pick a name and handle — your own name is fine. A Google account on its own isn’t a channel; this step is what lets you upload.
  3. Verify your phone number — in YouTube Studio, go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and verify your phone number. This unlocks uploads longer than 15 minutes and custom thumbnails. Do it before your first upload.
  4. Upload your video — in YouTube Studio, click Create → Upload videos and choose your file. Add a clear title, e.g. “2021 BMW M2 Competition — cold start and walk-around”, a short description, and answer “No, it’s not made for kids” (your video is a vehicle listing, not children’s content).
  5. Set the visibility to “Unlisted” — on the Visibility step, choose Unlisted. Anyone with the link can watch, but the video won’t appear in search or on a public channel page. Unlisted is all we need — you can change it later if you wish.
  6. Send us the link — when the upload finishes, click Share → Copy link and send us that link with your intake form (or by email). Send it before your listing is built — we review the video once and send you one round of feedback, so you can fix anything before buyers see it.
  7. Keep it live — leave the video up and unchanged through your auction and the sale. Keeping your video live and accurate is your responsibility; if you re-upload a corrected version, send us the new link right away.

Watch it done, start to finish

This short third-party tutorial covers the whole sequence — signing in, creating the channel, uploading, and the Private / Unlisted / Public choice:

What to film

The filming standard is the video on our example listing — treat it as the minimum: a clean, steady walk-around with the interior covered. Beyond that, a cold start, the engine bay, a short driving clip, an odometer close-up and flaw close-ups all help. The full shot-by-shot list is in the video guide — film it in daylight, take your time, and don’t worry about polish: honest and steady beats slick every time.

Two platform notes: on Cars & Bids, a cold-start and walk-around video is required by the platform. And remember — we don’t film, edit or host video; your channel, your video, our package. Send us the link before your listing is built and we’ll review it once, with one round of feedback, so you can fix anything before buyers see it.
